MAIN TOPIC 1 - STANDARD-BASED EDUCATION
Introduction
The definitions of "Standards" state "Standards" as the essential knowledge and abilities for students in order to be
successful in their learning. Besides, standards is also crucial in SBE context, adopted by Thai Educational System since
B.E. 2544.The educational standards are named variously like Content Standards, Performance Standards, Curriculum Standards, Competency Standards, State Standards, Learning Standards, School Standards, etc. Each is appropriate for different educational purposes.In SBE context, the educators with good knowledge and understandings about "Standards"
will play the essential roles in the improvement of education through the application of knowledge on : educational standards, curriculum framework planning, using the alignment process, the development of curriculum at every level: from State to Districts and Schools. Additionally, the educators and educational system policy makers should support schools' activities
of specifying the learning outcomes and the methods of learning assessment, basing on "Standards", for the better improvement of education in the country.
